Privacy overview

Local-first where it matters.

Viva the Beaver is designed so the core storyboard workflow does not depend on uploading your original video files to a cloud service.

Last updated: September 17, 2026 · Pre-launch policy overview

Original video files

Video analysis, cut detection, frame selection, and the core document workflow are performed locally on your Mac.

The original video is not uploaded as part of the planned PDF Share flow.

Planned PDF Share

PDF Share is planned for the commercial release but remains subject to final online-service readiness. When it is commercially enabled and you explicitly choose it, only the generated PDF is uploaded for link-based sharing; the source video is not uploaded.

Local PDF, PowerPoint, and image export remain available independently of Share.

Diagnostics and telemetry

The commercial release is being designed around minimal operational telemetry. Diagnostic events may include application version, build identifier, platform channel, event type, result, error category or fingerprint, and timestamp.

The telemetry design excludes file paths, file names, document titles, Notes contents, full license keys, purchaser email addresses, and original video content.

Trial

The in-app trial is managed locally around successful PDF exports and does not require an account.

The current trial allowance is seven successful PDF exports. Cancelled or failed saves do not consume an export.

Licensing and purchases

Purchases and software licensing are planned to use Lemon Squeezy. Information required to process a purchase or license may therefore be handled by that commerce provider under its own policies.

Purchaser email is not intended to be sent as ordinary app telemetry.

Changes before launch

This page describes the current product design and launch plan. The final Privacy Policy will be updated before commercial release to reflect the production services that are actually enabled.

We avoid blanket no-upload claims because the planned PDF Share flow would intentionally upload the generated PDF only when the user chooses that online feature after it becomes commercially available.
